Membership Categories

The first category is for schools and practitioners with a common vision and general principles for the ethical practice of breathwork as put forth on the Alliance website. This includes schools and their practitioners who are just beginning training and do not have a full curriculum. It also includes schools whose approach is one of trusting their practitioners to impart the technique to others as a breath coach after having experienced and integrated the spirit of the process. Their emphasis is on trust in the efficacy of the process, nonintrusion by the practitioner and empowerment of the one breathing to responsible ownership of his/her results.

The second category includes those schools who agree to common principles and ethics and, in addition, specific standards for the training of professional breathworkers. This includes schools and practitioners trained according to the standards of these schools with agreed upon content and required number of training hours as well as objective competency criteria. These standards are published on the Alliance website.

The third category includes programs in the future agreeing to a common vision and general principles for breathwork training and practice which share exchangeable content modules and trainers as well as joint certification. This category could potentially include schools and practitioners from the first two categories.

The fourth category is for students and IBTA supporters.

The orientation of each participating school and practitioner can be clarified by following the links to their respective websites and/or contact sources.
